3 round Slalom Competition - 22nd July 06

The River Weaver Ski Club held its first ever league competition on 22 July 06. It was a three round slalom event with practice on the Friday night, if we could have been granted 3 wishes, they would have been 1) a nice warm sunny day, 2) no wind and 3) no backwash. We got the lot, it was a fantastic day and we had a fantastic team to go with it.
It all started on the Friday afternoon with the course having to be inspected "homologated" to ensure it complied to the tolerances of the BWSF, once this had been completed (yes it passed, we had no doubts!!!") there were keen competitors wanting to try the water and have a practice. It was obvious that there were some good skiers taking part. Many people camped over either in tents, caravans or the club house settee!! (that was me!) the debate went onto the early hours and the more people drank the better they skied the next day (work that one out!!)

We had loads of support from the club with helping hands from those not good (or brave enough to compete!!), top boat driver Chris Webster, calculator Lynn Webster judges Mike Turner, Kevin Maloney and Dianne Maloney

The day was further assisted by having sponsorship from Malibu boats, Rock Savage Power and City Data Technology, without these we could not have held the competition.
17 very competitive skiers took place from novice through to premier, all were very complementary about our club and the organisation. The performance on the day turned out 7 PB's out of 17 skiers something not seen in any other comp this year, which demonstrated the conditions we had.
A successful BBQ and iced drinks kept the energy levels up of which Justin Reston, Lynn Gorman and Tina Carden must take the credit. They also looked good in their skimpy bikinis, not sure if it was the food the guys were queuing up for or a quick peep!!

The club was represented by Alan Clare who won best novice, Matt Brassington, Stuart Reston who won gold in div 4 and Dean Ball who came second in div 3 and won the overall club trophy.
