Racing is held every Sunday from March to November and on Tuesdays from April to end of September.
A new race programme is planned for 2010 which will ensure opportunities for beginners through to experts.
A series of short races in the more sheltered reaches will begin at 11.00am on Sunday followed by longer races, weather permitting, after lunch.
Racing also takes place on Tuesday evenings tailored to the needs of the participants.
Details of the 2010 Race Programme will be posted HERE as soon as available.
In the mean time, a little information about the river. The area by the jetties is the most sheltered from winds in the west. From here the river passes the picnic tables and sweeps under the bridge where it opens out into the a reed-banked stretch offering pleasant sailing up to the Meccano Bridge. Under this and around the bend to a narrow, high banked stretch, usually a beat one way and a run the other, which brings you to Nodin's Island and, on a windy day, the most awkward corner when gybing. From here is an open stretch where the winds are the steadiest, all the way to the Ship Canal.
