3 Loads of concrete has now gone in for the footings, plenty more yet though, fortunately for us we had the use of a cracking machine that pumped the concrete straight to where it was needed, no wheelbarrows or spades!!!

Steel reinforcing has now gone in ready for the concrete

After a week of two of digging down and filling with stone , the new club house project has really started to go full speed. Holes have been dug and concrete laid, still loads more to do but finally the project seems to be a reality, Today many helpers from all parts of the club mucked in with shovels, wheel barrows and rakes in what turned out to be a tough days work moving stone and concrete(not forgetting the jcb without which the job would of been impossible)

A special thanks should go to the Building Committee without which we would still be leaning on our shovels, and thanks to everyone who pitched in, still loads more to do but finally after many years planning and talking we are off and running , for more pictures check the gallery out here

The new club house is progressing although the committee concerned have been experienced delays recently with drawings, PT Building Services have been commissioned to handle the Building Control and on first impression they appear to be very helpful. From recent discussions we are hopeful to start within about 2 weeks, Visiting members should start to see pegs and profiles down very shortly

The following are the most recent developments so far
o A separate committee has been formed to move the construction of the new club house forward
o Drawings have been produced by the architect and planning permission has been approved
o Building Regs have also now been applied for and as such we are very close to starting construction

An estimate of costs has also been produced and unfortunately they are considerably higher than the funds we have available. Grants are being pursued but sadly there is only a remote chance of us receiving money from any. A large cost element of the estimate is labour and this brings us to the main reason for the newsletter.
We would like some feedback from members who feel they have skills that may be of use and any members who would be willing to give up some time to lend a hand in the construction
if you do feel you can help please e-mailsailing@weaver-sc.co.uk

The plan below shows the layout of the new clubhouse which is due to start 2004. Any help which members are able to offer with this construction project will be appreciated.
